ABOUT PIP
Formerly a Producer for BBC Education, Pip has previously researched and edited various books for whisky afficionado Charles Maclean. He has written
and researched for a number of food publications including Taste of Scotland and Scotland the Best as well as The Guardian
and The Scotsman.
As well as writing articles for Pips Dish on a regular basis, Pip is currently compiling a small book based on his experiences of reforming a friendship with his abusive father by
teaching him to cook as a widower.
It was this relationship, a journey from defiance to an affection for his eccentricity that inspired
a book about his life and falling in love with food. This is not a recipe book but a cookery manual for the inept, helpless boys and men who
have never known kitchens but who know good food and love their grub. And in the background a view of life from some very strange places. Pip is serialising the book here on the web. If you're interested in receiving the chapters as they emerge, just drop an email.
As an ex-cook and waiter he places simplicity and flavour above fuss and pretention. As a London based Scot he misses Clark Brothers
fishmongers in Musselburgh but relishes Fergus Henderson’s Nose to Tail approach to
food and cooking and being taken to The Wolseley for dinner.
